PlayStation 3 Will Also be PS1/PS2 Savegame Compatible

Posted in General at 1:57 am by playstation3

While Sony promised that all PSOne and PS2 games would be backward compatible, it also unveiled that even your old savegames will be useable on the PS3. To use saved data on a PS2 memory card, you must copy the data onto a virtual memory card within the hard disk, which will require a PS2/PSone memory card adaptor to copy the data to your PS3. A memory card adaptor is designed to edit, up/download game saves to and from EMS flash card or smart media card. Details on the adaptor, as to price or manufactorer, were however not provided

This is great!!! Split the adaptor (what maybe $10??) with a few roommates and you can finally get rid of the 10 unmarked memory cards sitting next to your PS2..

Also cant wait to see what the XBox fanboys say to make this look bad for Sony… because we all know how easy it is to transfer saves from your xbox to the 360… :P
